BLESSE: Driving Transformative Change for Societal Contribution

Born Leaders Elite: Driving Transformative Change for Societal Contribution

At Born Leaders Elite, we are committed to empowering black incarcerated individuals through our post-incarceration programs in Ontario. We provide the tools and resources necessary for personal growth, societal contribution, and transformative change.

Born Leaders Elite Sanctified Social Enterprise (BLESSE) was officially registered on March 20th, 2024, by its sole founder, Andrew Bond. Andrew's journey of personal redevelopment while incarcerated led to profound growth in cognitive, cultural, and spiritual maturity. This transformation revealed his true purpose and value, inspiring him to create BLESSE. The platform aims to optimize the "Born Leader" within Afrocentric individuals, empowering them to embrace "Black Ownership" in all aspects of life—mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, socially, and within their families.

BLESSE focuses on equipping current and formerly incarcerated and marginalized Afrocentric individuals with culturally relevant knowledge, tools, and support. By addressing economic and financial inequalities, BLESSE aims to help these individuals re-establish their place in society, dismantling recidivism and fostering generational wealth. With extensive lived experience in recidivism and the criminal justice system, BLESSE connects deeply with those involved in criminal, street, and gang subcultures. The organization emphasizes Black economic and financial independence through entrepreneurship, providing work development initiatives focused on independent contracting.

Our mission at BLESSE is to equip current and formerly incarcerated and marginalized Afrocentric individuals with the culturally relevant knowledge, tools, and support necessary to overcome economic and financial inequalities. By fostering Black ownership and entrepreneurship, we aim to dismantle recidivism and promote generational wealth.

Societal Contribution

I am Andrew Bond, the Founder/Executive Director of BLESSE. On March 23, 2024, I was honored not only to be a part of the cover story for the Culture Section of the nation’s #1 syndicated news paper The Toronto Star but was the solo feature on the cover. My passions include my immense desire and discernment for entrepreneurialism, and a deep love for music, writing—lyrics, literature, scripts, or books. These qualities, including my spiritual maturity, are what led me to hold on to my dream of becoming something special to my community. Giving back and representing my people was always the plan.

During my final incarceration, I realized the profound changes I underwent while participating in various programs, workshops, and spiritual services. I developed meaningful relationships with many community organizations. I expressed my commitment to change and desire to share this passion with others needing transformative change upon my reintegration. These organizations gave me a template and opportunities to present myself as a protagonist for incarcerated Afrocentric individuals within the community social sector.

My journey began at birth as a Black male in North America, but I have faced systematic bias and anti-racist societal structures for at least 37 years. Starting from grade 1, I have experienced discriminative disparities, beginning with the school system. This lifelong experience has fueled my dedication in creating a meaningful platform to which can implement change, this is the purpose of BLESSE.

Currently, I work alone, but community partners and contributors are solidifying their support to further our mission.

Mission

Our mission at BLESSE is to equip current and formerly incarcerated and marginalized Afrocentric individuals with the culturally relevant knowledge, tools, and support necessary to overcome economic and financial inequalities. By fostering Black ownership and entrepreneurship, we aim to dismantle recidivism and promote generational wealth.

WELCOME TO BLESSE

BLESSE is dedicated to creating meaningful social transformation within the Black community by empowering Black formerly incarcerated and systemically marginalized individuals. With knowledge, opportunity and the adequate tools, BLESSE believes we can prove WE as a people are not incorrigible. BLESSE is immensely committed to dismantling systemic and generational barriers that restrict opportunities for growth and prosperity within Black communities. Black Ownership (in all capacities) is our mantra and premise to the assignment. Our comprehensive approach includes several key initiatives:

  1. **Real Estate Development Sweat Equity Programs**: Participants engage in construction projects, investing their labor in exchange for a stake in the project's profits. This hands-on experience not only provides legal income opportunities (obtaining a down payment/principal) but also equips them with valuable skills and knowledge in real estate, fostering economic independence and long-term generational wealth. In turn, diminishing the familiarity/comfort of risky endeavors.
  2. **THE GROW OP**: Also known as "The Growth Operation," is a culturally responsive collective of modules conducted in workshops and focused on reconfiguring participants' relationships with money and altering perceptions influenced by systemic labels like "crime for gain." Led by instructors with similar life experiences, these sessions promote transformative learning, helping individuals redefine their goals, develop healthier financial habits, and envision a purpose-driven life.
  3. **Educational and Anti-Discrimination Conferences**: We organize conferences and workshops that address the root causes of institutional racism and individual biases, particularly those affecting Black offenders within the prison system. These events educate and mobilize community members and stakeholders to fight against discrimination and support systemic change.
  4. **'Pay Your BLESSE'ING Forward' Initiative**: This initiative encourages former participants of the sweat equity program to contribute from the BLESSE’ING they received to someone walking the path they just did, by reinvesting a portion of their earnings back into the sweat equity program and now becoming an independent investor, which creates a cultural financial infrastructure and fosters a cycle of positive change and mutual support. This would include collaboration with government bodies and community partners to create reintegration incentives for participants, thereby enhancing their societal re-entry and ongoing personal development.

Partnering with BLESSE offers established organizations a unique opportunity to participate in the experience of genuine protagonism and tangible social change and growth. From myself, lived experience contributors right to the needed participates, those who are BLESSED to partake in the initiative become the examples/leaders that society claims they want to see. And with this opportunity, organizations benefit by aligning with a model of sustainable community development that enhances corporate social responsibility and enriches brand value. This partnership not only supports the dismantling of discrimination and inequality but also promotes a culture of inclusion and empowerment within the community. By joining forces with BLESSE, partners contribute to a legacy of positive community transformation and gain a strategic ally in the quest for a more just and equitable society.
